About Us
SHORT-TERM MISSIONS. LASTING IMPACT.
Our Story
What began as a short-term missions trip for a youth group from a church in New Bern, NC transformed into an enduring, missions-focused team, committed to changing the future for generations of children and equipping the body of Christ in the nations for five-fold ministry.
In the summers of 1994 and 1995, Bruce Ritter – then a youth pastor – took church teams to the Dominican Republic to work with Pastor Radhames Quezada. Compelled by Radhames’ vision to reach children in the city with the Gospel, he and JW Brown, a businessman and leader in their church, organized a third trip in October of 1996 to plan for future teams.
On October 20, 1996 at 5:20 in the afternoon, while attending a children’s service in Pimentel, Dominican Republic, the Holy Spirit prompted a question to JW: “What are you willing to do?” The answer was, and still is, “I will do whatever you ask me to do.” Thus the Pimentel Project, Inc. was born. And less than 1 year later, in August 1997, the first classes of kindergarten through 3rd grade convened.
That’s only the beginning of our story, but we still honor the answer that began this ministry: “I will do whatever you ask me to do.”
